Drone start-up RYZE Tech has collaborated with Marvel and Disney to announce the Tello Iron Man Edition today in the United States, Canada and Europe. Building on the success of Tello and Tello EDU, Tello Iron Man Edition comes with a cool new look inspired by Iron Man’s iconic armor in addition to a new flight control app featuring his AI assistant, FRIDAY.
Tello’s new drone is themed around Iron Man and comes with a design job that matches the superhero’s iconic suit. At $129, the new mini drone is a bit more expensive than its predecessor was, something we can probably chalk up to this new licensing deal. Even then, $129 isn’t very much money when we’re talking about most typical consumer drones.
The original Dji Tello launched last year with technological backing from Intel and DJI. The result was a highly capable but incredibly affordable little drone. The Tello was revamped at the end of 2018 in the form of the Tello EDU, a model focused specifically on the ed-tech market.

Want to shoot vlogs, outdoor sports or underwater excursions but sure that GoPro isn’t good enough or too expensive? Then you’re in the right place.
These days there are quite a few cameras like a GoPro but cheaper. Since we didn’t need one and mostly wanted it for water activities like snorkeling, we knew we’d need a waterproof action camera or one that comes with a waterproof housing.
Obviously we wanted decent photo and video quality – if the end product isn’t usable, there’s no point in buying one. Our goal was to find the best action camera under $100 that would work underwater. We weren’t too picky about touch screens or other bells and whistles.
How’d we end up with the latest Akaso 4K camera? First off, it’s under $100 including the waterproof housing – there are plenty of options out there than don’t include it and the total price for your gear can really jump once you add in the necessities. Second, it has a huge number of positive reviews (check them out here) with very few complaints so we know the product has been well-vetted.

Akaso Brave 4 camera has a very high resolution of up to a tune of 20 Mega Pixels. This enables you to capture incredible images that you can proudly share. In the technical aspect, the great video quality is the result of using 20 MP Sony sensor.
The camera isanti-shaking and you are at liberty to choose yourangle of view ranging from 170-70 degrees. The anti-shaking feature gives your stable videos and even photos because even if the camera moves, it never affects the quality. That is the magic of this camera.
It is a waterproof camera with a 2 IPS inch screen. With this camera, you can record or take photos up to a depth of up to 30M under water. It can be a swimming pool or a deep river. What you need to do is to place your camera in a waterproof case and fasten it and capture your underground activity. In case you are capturing a video, the 2 IPS inch screen will allow you to preview your camera before you press the record button. The camera comes with two powerful batteries with the charging capacity of 1050mAh. One battery will last up to a tune of 90 minutes. The batteries enable the user to be in action for a longer time. The batteries are rechargeable so whenever power runs out you just plug them into the power source. Note: You should be careful not to overcharge them because if you do so, you damage them. It has WI-FI. To connect to it, simply download and install a free application called iSmart DV from Android Play Store or iOS App Store. After connecting you can share videos and pictures with your relatives and friends on social media or even sending them through email. The quality is really great. Also it has HDMI. This enables you to connect it to the television if you want to view the pictures or even watch on a bigger screen. It is amazing I tell you! With HDMI, it is a top camera.
The other amazing fact is that this camera comes with an affordable price with all those quoted desirable qualities.
Akaso Brave 4 Camera Review
The image quality above water is, in my opinion, not as high quality as shots I get from my iPhone. It doesn’t seem to be an issue of megapixels, but even with the camera set to the highest quality it doesn’t produce images that I’d generally consider “blog worthy” and I haven’t found any way to control exposure (or anything else). As you can see in the example below, stills from the Akaso action camera are somewhat grainy and improperly exposed. I don’t usually get amazing iPhone photos, but they’re passable and at least I can easily control the exposure to prevent blown-out skies. As I mentioned above, I don’t need a GoPro alternative to provide day-to-day snapshots, as I’d much rather use my real camera system!
But the image quality underwater? Giddy up! Where the waterproof pouches we had previously used to take underwater photos with our phones left a hazy look, the Akaso Brave 4 underwater photos are crystal clear! Check out this humuhumnukunukuapua’a we spotted in Hanauma Bay! It needed only a little basic color correction in Lightroom, but truly nothing major.
It’s also great for underwater videography. It stays focused pretty nicely and produces a smooth image. Note that it’s advertised as 4K, but based on technical information out there it seems to only be 2K hardware that extrapolated to 4K. As such, I’ve only been filming in 2K. It’s not going to win any awards from National Geographic, but for most of us having a little fun underwater it’ll do the trick.
In general the Akaso action camera pretty straightforward to use, with the front button change modes and the top button executing commands (whether changing a setting, taking a picture or starting and stopping video). It only takes a few minutes to get comfortable even for kids. The side buttons scroll through setting choices or through old photos and videos.
The two main gripes I have both come down to ease of use.
First, as I mentioned earlier in this review some of the settings seem a little buried. The menu isn’t organized in any way, and you’ll have to scroll pretty far to find Diving Mode. Maybe we’re unique in our usage of the Akaso action camera, but I would have liked to see that option first on the menu!
The second issue I have is that it lags a little too much when starting video – maybe even a full second. This can be frustrating for two reasons: first, because a video-worthy moment may have disappeared; second, when you’re underwater it can be hard to see the screen in some situations and (if you’re anything like me) you might push the button thinking that it hasn’t registered. Your button push probably worked, but it just didn’t start recording right way! If you push the button again, it will stop right away – or did you just start it? It can be confusing, but try to peek at the screen to look for the red dot and updating second count.
On balance, I think the value and underwater photo and video quality outweigh the negatives. It will never beat the GoPro for image quality (or maybe even ease of use), but at just 20% of the price (that’s of, not off) the Akaso 4K action camera makes an awesome GoPro substitute.

DJI is known for making drone aircraft, but that’s taught the company a few things about cameras. It’s released a few handheld cameras and related accessories, but the new Osmo Pocket is the smallest handheld stabilizer it’s ever offered. With 3-axis stabilization, you can swing the Osmo Pocket every which way and still get passably smooth footage at 4K resolution.
So, What is Dji Osmo Pocket?
The DJI Osmo Pocket puts video stabilization in the palm of your hand, with a small camera that smooths out your footage thanks to a 3-axis gimbal. It's pocketable, like the name suggests, and doesn't hog your smartphone, like the larger DJI Osmo Mobile 2.
Instead of using the large Zenmuse camera found on the original Osmo or a smartphone as the camera like with the Osmo Mobile, the Pocket borrows more from the camera and gimbal tech found on the company’s smaller drones, like the Mavic Air.
DJI Osmo Pocket - Camera
The camera that sits on the three-axis gimbal uses a 1/2.3-inch sensor and can capture 4K footage at up to 60 frames per second at 100Mbps. DJI says the Osmo Pocket will last for up to two hours shooting in 4K at a slightly lower frame rate of 30 fps. The Osmo Pocket also captures 12-megapixel photos, and it has dual microphones for recording audio.
We're still testing out the 4K video smoothing and photo snapping capabilities, but it's promising for video enthusiasts who don't want professional-sized camera stabilization equipment. The onboard audio and price (along with the assortment of tempting accessories that add up) may be the only tough sells here.
DJI Osmo Pocket - Specs & Features
On top of that, there’s a new feature called FaceTrack, which enables the on-device camera to identify a human face and lock it in frame, even as that person starts to move out of frame or looks up and down. During a brief demo of the new Dji Osmo Pocket, the camera module swiveled around to keep me in frame when FaceTrack mode was enabled, like a tiny robot head following me around the room.
Other capture settings will be available in DJI’s newest mobile app, called Mimo. This includes “Pro Mode,” which automatically detects low light scenes and lets you adjust exposure settings, and “Story Mode,” which stitches together select video clips for you. The Osmo Pocket also captures wide-angle still photos, ideal for large-group selfies, and appears to make capturing panoramic photos stupidly simple.
Under the Osmo Pocket is a universal port that allows the camera to be paired with mobile devices that use Apple’s Lightning or USB-C connections. Paired devices can be used as a monitor for the camera.
Other smartfeatures:
ActiveTrack – DJI’s image recognition algorithms allow Osmo Pocket to recognize and follow subjects of choice.
FPV Mode – FPV Mode lets users capture the video from their perspective. Instead of locking the gimbal to maintain the horizon, FPV tells the camera to follow every tilt and lean.
3×3 & 180° Panorama – For capturing wide-angle photos Osmo Pocket offers two Panorama modes. 3X3 takes an expansive 9 images in total while 180° mode captures 4 images. Osmo Pocket software stitches them together automatically.
There’s also an ecosystem of accessories, including an accessory mount, wireless module, controller wheel, expansion kit, filters set, waterproof case, extension rode, charging case, and 3.5mm adapter.
The Osmo Pocket will be available for pre-order today for $349, and will ship in mid-December. $349 isn't cheap, and buyers will likely want to invest in accessories at some point, whether a WiFi module, amount, or an extension rod. DJI also plans to ship a 3.5mm adapter for an external microphone, in case the onboard audio capture and noise cancellation doesn’t cut it; we have yet to test this out.
But DJI has still managed to undercut GoPro, which sells the Hero 7 for $400. Given the Osmo’s size and on-device capture abilities, it’s not a stretch to think that DJI might be looking to eat some of GoPro’s lunch with this thing.
Often these kinds of gimbals are used in conjunction with a GoPro, but if the on-device capture is this good with the Osmo, then you could see how someone might decide not to buy an additional camera with it. DJI even claims that the tiny Osmo’s battery will last for up to two hours of continuous 4K video shooting, which, if true, could very well surpass any GoPro’s battery life.
Of course, the Osmo Pocket isn’t waterproof (though DJI says a waterproof case is in the works) and it’s hard to imagine propping it up on your helmet or wearing it as part of a chest harness while you’re crushing it on the slopes. GoPro still has all the advantages of that small, square form factor. And the Hero7 has its own impressive, “HyperSmooth” image stabilization technology.
Conclusion
The DJI Osmo Pocket is the all-in-one solution for anyone who wants to capture fluid video, but doesn't want to dedicate a portion of their backpack to carrying around something much larger, like the DJI Osmo Mobile 2 or the DJI Ronin S.
